About F1RST
Florida’s Forensic Institute for Research, Security, and Tactics (F1RST) is an innovative collaboration between academia, law enforcement practitioners, and the private sector, spearheaded by the Pasco Sheriff's Office. Located in Florida with facilities in Land O’ Lakes and Spring Hill, F1RST serves as a state-of-the-art research and training hub designed to advance public safety through cutting-edge technology, tactics, and forensic science. The institute offers comprehensive training programs and research initiatives aimed at enhancing the skills and capabilities of public safety professionals. By integrating theoretical knowledge with practical applications, F1RST empowers leaders and develops new methodologies to ensure safer communities, focusing on everything from unmanned aerial systems to forensic anthropology and cyber security.
OUR MISSION
Disaster Training
At F1RST, we provide specialized training facilities and resources designed to equip public safety professionals with advanced skills in disaster response, search and rescue, and critical incident management. Our rubble piles and other dedicated training environments support comprehensive instruction for both Human Remains Detection (HRD) and Live Find K9 teams, including helicopter insertion techniques for personnel and K9 units. With a focus on real-world applications, F1RST offers expertise in drone operations, thermal search and rescue (SAR), robotics, and drone mapping, allowing trainees to develop skills essential for efficient, effective disaster and emergency response. These advanced facilities and expert-led programs position F1RST as a leader in cutting-edge public safety training and research.
F1RST Unmanned Systems Hangar
The unmanned systems hangar at F1RST provides public safety organizations with a controlled environment to train on indoor drones and robotics. The hangar features challenging obstacles such as a configurable shoot house, allowing for realistic training scenarios. This facility is an ideal location for public safety to hone their skills and improve their response in a and secure environment.
